During the cementing phase, DTS temperature profiles can accurately identify:

abnormal fluid movement

In one field application, the measured cement return height reached 1764 m, fully matching conventional acoustic density logging results.

The interface between high-density and low-density cement was detected at 3020 m, with only minor deviation from the designed depth of 2950 m, confirming excellent cementing quality.

2. Perforation Stage: Real-Time Shot Detection and Event Response


 

Perforation quality directly impacts initial production efficiency.

Using combined DTS and DAS monitoring, the system captures both:

instantaneous temperature spikes

explosive acoustic signatures

generated by perforating charges.

For example:

lower interval 3470–3477 m: 7 perforation shots

upper interval 3389–3395 m: 6 perforation shots

Each shot produced clear corresponding temperature and acoustic features, allowing engineers to verify perforation success in real time.

perforation accuracy

post-job validation

 

3. Well Testing Stage: Fast Failure Diagnosis


 

During well testing, accurate downhole isolation is critical.

In one test well, a packer was deployed to isolate the lower production zone while testing the upper interval.

However, DTS data clearly showed:

temperature increase in the lower zone

no thermal response in the target upper test zone

This quickly confirmed packer failure, preventing incorrect interpretation of reservoir performance.

For oilfield service companies and operators, this significantly reduces costly decision-making errors.

 

4. Long-Term Monitoring: Proven Multi-Year Field Reliability
