In today's digital oilfield development, operators require more than single-stage well diagnostics. From cementing, perforation, well testing, to full-scale production, every stage of the well lifecycle demands precise, real-time, and reliable monitoring solutions.
At Qingdao ZITN Technology Co., Ltd., we leverage advanced Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technologies to build an integrated full-lifecycle well monitoring system that supports both short-term operations and long-term production optimization.
1. Cementing Stage: Accurate Cement Return and Interface Evaluation
Well integrity begins with high-quality cementing.
During the cementing phase, DTS temperature profiles can accurately identify:
cement return height
cement interface positions
density transition boundaries
abnormal fluid movement
In one field application, the measured cement return height reached 1764 m, fully matching conventional acoustic density logging results.
The interface between high-density and low-density cement was detected at 3020 m, with only minor deviation from the designed depth of 2950 m, confirming excellent cementing quality.
This capability helps operators reduce risks related to:
poor zonal isolation
gas channeling
casing leakage
early production failure
2. Perforation Stage: Real-Time Shot Detection and Event Response
Perforation quality directly impacts initial production efficiency.
Using combined DTS and DAS monitoring, the system captures both:
instantaneous temperature spikes
explosive acoustic signatures
generated by perforating charges.
For example:
lower interval 3470–3477 m: 7 perforation shots
upper interval 3389–3395 m: 6 perforation shots
Each shot produced clear corresponding temperature and acoustic features, allowing engineers to verify perforation success in real time.
This improves:
perforation accuracy
operation safety
completion efficiency
post-job validation
3. Well Testing Stage: Fast Failure Diagnosis
During well testing, accurate downhole isolation is critical.
In one test well, a packer was deployed to isolate the lower production zone while testing the upper interval.
However, DTS data clearly showed:
temperature increase in the lower zone
no thermal response in the target upper test zone
This quickly confirmed packer failure, preventing incorrect interpretation of reservoir performance.
For oilfield service companies and operators, this significantly reduces costly decision-making errors.
4. Long-Term Monitoring: Proven Multi-Year Field Reliability
Long-term surveillance is where intelligent oilfield monitoring creates the highest value.
Qingdao ZITN Technology Co., Ltd. has successfully completed 26 long-term monitoring wells, with the longest continuously operating well running for more than 1160 days.
From 2024 to 2025, an additional 14 wells were deployed for:
routine production monitoring
cementing process monitoring
long-term production profile analysis
fluid distribution surveillance
This extensive project experience has enabled the company to establish a complete system covering:
monitoring workflow
data management
interpretation models
long-term maintenance processes
Why This Matters for Oilfield Operators
For international oil & gas operators, EPC contractors, and oilfield service companies, full lifecycle monitoring delivers measurable benefits:
lower intervention costs
improved production efficiency
faster fault diagnosis
enhanced well integrity
long-term reservoir optimization
As digital transformation accelerates across upstream operations, fiber-optic sensing technologies such as DTS and DAS are becoming core infrastructure for the smart oilfield.
